Some Catching Up to Do!

I have written this post a dozen times. Sat down with the intention to post it, and for whatever reason didn't. So, I'd say I have some catching up to do!
Here's a quick update in addition to the stuff below I wrote months and months ago!
We are on month 11 here in Reno and FINALLY living in our brand new house! Yay! This is huge because now we can finally try and start to settle. Grow some roots (I hope!). The last year has been a year of limbo. Living in a "temporary" state. Not getting to settled in or too unpacked. But still trying a make a life for ourselves here. Now... we are living in unpacking hell. But, that too is temporary and our new home feels more like home every day. But, more on the house in my next post. Here's the good stuff about the kiddos!

First Day of Pre-K

Weston is 18 months!
20 lbs
Still has no real teeth yet, although 3 molars are making their way out!? Not going to lie, we are a little worried about the lack of front ones by now. We have a dentist appointment scheduled for next week.
He is so so different from Hudson. And so much work! I blame him for my rapidly advanced aging this last year. He makes my heart miss a beat on a daily basis as he climbs anything and everything with absolutely no fear. This kid has no sense of self preservation!
Favorites: Micky Mouse, Hudson, cooking and cleaning, specifically vacuuming, oh and HORSES!
We see dozens of horses out of our back windows everyday and Weston LOVES the horses. He always tells us with great enthusiasm and volume, when the horses are out. And he is usually very disappointing when they go bye-bye.

Typically sleeps through the night, or at lease until about 5am. Thank God!
Grandma and Grandpa recently discovered he loves swimming!

Hudson is alomst 4.5
31 lbs
Hudson is doing great. He just started at his new school, in Pre-K. He is learning so much so fast it blows our minds. The transition to his new school went SO much better than our move here. We stayed with Goddard School, just moved to a different location, which seemed to be a good choice. It's very similar and he's done really well with it. He's already got two "best friends" :)

Favorites: LEGOS and more legos. And still just building stuff out of anything. Blocks, kits, etc. Like Transformers, playing games on his tablet, Playgrounds/ parks, and getting dirty!

Wild & One!

02.27.18

15 lbs 9oz, 29 inches

At one year:

  • Walks & Runs
  • Says Mama, Dada, that and again
  • Still no teeth
  • Does not sleep through the night
  • Loves all food
  • Likes to watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse
  • Loves music and dancing
  • Looks up to his big brother and thinks everything he does is hilarious

(Written in February) I'm not sure how it happened, but somehow an entire year has gone by since this little guy joined our family! It went so fast. Too fast. Weston is turning into a toddler before our eyes. He chases after his brother, plays games with us, and understands more than we realize. He is adventurous and fearless, climbing everything he can and keeping Mom and Dad on their toes. This past week the coffee table had to go into storage because we couldn't keep him from climbing on top of it. Toys have been confiscated, and just about anything he can use as a step stool has to be removed. He is creative and clever and he'll turn just about anything into a ladder or stool if he gets the chance!
Grandma & Grandpa and Grandma Janine all flew out to celebrate Weston's birthday with him. The boys had a great time with everyone here and Jason and I got a nice break. We got a lot of snow that week and Jason and I even got a day of snowboarding in before Grandma went back home.

Weston is so different than Hudson was. Its fun to see all of the ways his personality is different, but he also likes to challenge us more than Hudson did. Weston never sits still for long. If he's awake, he's up to something. It's hard to get him to sit still. He's a great eater and eats just about everything. As long as he can walk around the house while he's eating or take bites in between whatever has got him busy.

I know in my last post I said Weston was sleeping through the night. That lasted just long enough for me to write the blog I think. After a week he reverted back to his old ways and since has continued to get up once, or most nights, twice. This is unfortunate. He puts himself to sleep great every night and at nap time too. But, its almost clockwork everything that he wakes up. Its a good thing he's so darn cute and sweet and I love him so darn much!

Update- Weston at nearly 16 months!

Now 18lbs 4 oz! Nearly 3 lbs heavier in a little more than 3 months, this kid is growing like crazy in every way! At this age, Weston changes weekly. He learns so much so quick. The way he interacts, communicates, and his personality are all developing so much its amazing. He is the sweetest most lovable kid. He's also maybe the most suborn child I have ever encountered. He is curious and determined and fearless. He keeps surprising us with new words and actions and it seems like everyday brings something new. Also, at 14 months he did FINALLY start sleeping through the night for good. Thank God! Just one month ahead of Hudson, who started sleeping through the night at 15 months.

Hudson is 4!

30 lbs, 38.5 inches

I can't quite wrap my head around how 4 years have already gone by. It is going all too fast. Hudson is doing great. Getting smarter everyday. He loves to dance lately and is obsessed with all Imagine Dragons songs. He takes an interest in the music on the radio and will tell me what songs he likes and doesn't. It fascinates us what he knows and remembers.

We celebrated his birthday at Grandma & Grandpa's house with Grandma Janine too. The day after we spent two days at Disneyland with two of his San Diego Friends, Katelynn and Spencer. We had a GREAT time! Hudson loved all the rides and had so much fun reuniting with his best friends.

Hudson is the LEGO KING! It is truly an obsession. Hudson currently loves building legos. Like, real LEGOs. Giant 1000 piece lego sets for 9-14 year olds! It's kind of amazing, and very cool to watch, and sometimes overwhelming how much he wants to build them. He might have gotten too many of his parent's architect genes.

Life in Reno

Its hard to believe we've already lived here for 8 months. It's gone so quick. It feels like we've all adjusted to life here now. But, I wouldn't say we've really "settled" yet. In 6 weeks we'll be moving again. New house, new area, new school, and new friends. It's a little overwhelming and stressful to know we're about to pick up and more or less start over again so soon. But also comforting knowing that we will finally be able to settle here. Grow some roots. Try and make some real friends. We're hoping it will add some missing stability and make Reno feel a little more like home.
We miss San Diego, A LOT. Miss our family, our friends, and all of the conveniences of the life we had there. But, it is really beautiful here. We've really enjoyed the seasons so far. We got here in the fall, in time to see Winter roll in, and the truly magical beauty that unfolds when winter leaves. Spring I've realized now, is something I've maybe never really experienced before. It was wonderfully amazing to see snow one week, and the next everything was lush and green and budding and beautiful. And lots of new baby horses. (We have a LOT of wild horses here)

This week the interior is getting painted and next week our cabinets should arrive. After that if will just be all of the finishes up until move in time!
