3 Months

Arbor is 3 Months Old!

At 3 months Arbor

- Rolls over (back to tummy)
- Naps and sleeps in her crib
- Giggles and coos
- Loves tv, music, and ceiling fans

The past 3 months have gone by too fast, as I knew they would. This was a tough week, as today is my last day of maternity leave. As I try and mentally prep for going back to work on Monday, I can't help but wish I could go back to the day I brought her home and do these past 3 months all over again. I have loved these months with her. She is such a fun, sweet, good baby. I will miss our days together, bonding time and lack of agenda. This week has weighed heavy on my heart.

Just before she turned 2 months we took a family trip to Grandma and Grandpa's house. I did my first solo plane flight with all 3 kids, and it went great, pandemic and all! The kids, Otis and I spent 2 weeks there from Father's Day to 4th of July. It was a lovely break for all of us. The boys made a trip down to Grandma Janine's and spent a day at the Wild Animal Park. All three kids and I spent a day in Carlsbad visiting the old neighborhood and friends. Both Spencer and Katelynn were able to make trips up to do a pool day at my parents. It was 2 weeks filled with lots of pool time, rest, fun time with the neighbors and friends, late night puzzles, and fireworks to end the trip. Arbor and I headed back for a week to ourselves and the boys stayed in CA for an extra week.

Arbor - 1 month

Arbor is 1 Month Old!

It's hard to believe she's been a part of our world for more than a month now. She is sweet and a joy. Her routine is still pretty unpredictable, although she is staying awake longer between naps. Some days she gets a really good 2-3 hour nap in. Other days she sleeps in 5-15 minute chunks unless I'm holding her. She is entertained by her brothers and will now watch the ceiling fan, tv, and likes to look outside. She is a good eater and eats often! We've got a pretty good night time routine going. She goes to bed between 8-9 downstairs with Jason and me. Sometimes waking a few times. Then when we go to bed between 11-12 I move her to her bedside bassinet. Most nights she'll last until about 2 am before waking to eat. After that she sleeps for 2-3 hour stretches between feedings and usually wakes for the morning around 7. The boys adore her and have been pretty great about understanding how much she needs from me right now. Its been hard on them being stuck at home in isolation and I know they are looking forward to our trip to Grandma and Grandpa's in a few weeks.

Happy 6th Birthday Hudson!

Hudson is SIX!

 April 29, 2020

Weight: 38 lbs   Height: 43.5"

I can't believe I have a six year old!
This birthday was a bit different. No Disneyland trip or friends to share it with, but at least Grandma and Grandpa were here to celebrate and BOTH of Hudson's siblings! Hudson has been asking for a baby sister for the past 3 years, so its fitting that we brought her home ON his birthday! And thankfully, she came JUST in time to not have to share a birthday! April, however will forever be a busy month of celebration and LOTS of cake!

We got home from the hospital a little after noon. In time for a birthday dinner, cake, presents, and the new Sonic movie! All in all I think we pulled off a pretty good quarantine birthday ;-)

At six years old Hudson can ride a bike without training wheels, is a pro on his 2 wheel scooter, excels in math and reading at school and loves legos, puzzles, building anything, and playing minecraft, sonic and other video games on his tablet.

Welcome to the World Arbor!

Arbor Sage Villoria

Born April 28th at 2:31am

8lbs 5oz, 20.5 inches

A week and two days late, but worth the wait! The last few weeks of waiting for this little lady to arrive were rough. So many emotions and concerns. I worried that something was wrong with me. Maybe my labor hormones were broken and I'd never go into labor. The Dr had recommended a scheduled c-section, which had me pretty disappointed. I had tried to schedule her c-section for Sunday the 24th so I could be home in time for Hudson's birthday. But the hospital didn't have any available appointments until Tuesday the 28th, which would have meant I'd miss Hudson's birthday. So, I pushed my surgery date to the 30th, allowing me to be home for Hudson's birthday and hoping deep down that it would buy me enough time to go into labor on my own before then.
On Monday the 27th, I started having regular contractions around 6am. I ignored them, trying not to get my hopes up in case they stopped. I went into the Dr at 1pm to do a non stress test on the baby and make sure she was still doing good. I had several contractions there so the Dr checked me and I was dilated to 3cm. This was great news and I was pretty certain today was going to be it. I went home and continued to have contractions closer together and stronger throughout the day. After we put the kids to bed I decided to jump in the shower and get my go bag packed. By time I got out of the shower it was time to go. Except, I still needed to pack. I rushed around trying to get out of there in between contractions that were 2 minutes apart and made it to the hospital around 9:30pm. At this point I was in unbearable pain and wanted my epidural. By time they got me checked in and moved into a labor room and finally got me the epidural it was about midnight. I'd made it through the worst. The epidural kicked in and all was well. This epidural was different than the one I had with Weston. I still had quite a bit of feeling and full control of my legs. I could move, lift my body, feel the contractions, and work through the labor. I was still in pain, but it was manageable. After about 2 hours of waiting and working through the pressure of her moving into place the Dr came in to check me and said "you're ready to have a baby!"
I was so excited and happy. I made it! I was going to have this baby! Arbor was doing great. She never went into distress like both the boys. Everything was going so smooth it was hard to believe it was real. I pushed through one and a half contractions and Arbor was born. It was amazing and perfect.
The next 10 minutes were rough. Since Arbor was so late there was meconium in the amniotic fluid, which she had been "breathing." They had to clear out her lungs and get it all out. For the next 10 minutes or so they pounded on her chest and flushed out her lungs while she screamed and cried. It was awful. But in the end she was breathing great and they were able to hand her over to me. I had my baby. She was perfect.
We spent the night in the hospital and were able to make it home the next day by noon for Hudson's birthday!
